Description

On Friday, June 29 at 7:00 pm, Libero Canto presents a special concert and reception to benefit the Amagansett Life-Saving Station, featuring music by Claudio Monteverdi & Béla Bartók.

Singers include Deborah Carmichael, who has a very special connection to the Amagansett Life-Saving Station: the building was her childhood home, and was owned by her family until 2011.

In addition to Ms. Carmichael, other performers are singers Kinga Cserjési, Marisa Michelson and Sara Serpa, with Nikita Morozov and Yuri Namkung, violins, Valeriya Sholokhova, cello and Danica Borisavljevic, piano.

Members of the Choral Society of the Hamptons will make a guest appearance: Allen Fein, Janet Fensterer, William Gosman, Evan Harrel, Vivian Lindemann, and Susan Raymond.

All four singers work with the Libero Canto approach: a wholistic approach to singing and music-making that emphasizes freedom and authenticity.  It was developed by the Hungarian Lajos Szamosi in Budapest in the 1930s, who called it, "the path to free singing" - la via al libero canto.

The performance and reception is at the Amagansett Life-Saving Station, 160 Atlantic Avenue in Amagansett.

Tickets are sold at the door.
Suggested donation: $25. Contributions are tax-deductible.
