Description

Have you ever wanted to be a comedy writer, playwright, performer, comedian, songwriter, or storyteller? Well, now you can learn, as you create performance pieces from your own life and observations.

Based on the participants own lives; Theatre and Television director/writer, Stuart Ross will lead participants through the process of creating stories, skits, monologues, songs, and parodies and together they will create a new theatre experience. The creators, (the teens) will invent, write and perform in a theatre piece devised from their own stories, their own point of views, and their own special talents. With Stuart’s guidance, they will present these various pieces (monologues, sketches, songs and creations) into an “SNL”-type revue reflecting the camp participants’ lives and spirits. If you would prefer not to “perform,” we welcome writers and creators, this camp is all in the spirit of celebrating “who you are.”

STUART ROSS directed four shows at Bay Street Theater, including ENTER LAUGHING THE MUSICAL. He has spent most of his four decades in the theatre creating, adapting and directing new shows. He is probably best known as the writer and director of the long running musical phenomenon FOREVER PLAID which ran in NYC for over 2000 performances. FOREVER PLAID is the hilarious, heart-felt and harmonic musical about the fictional “Plaids”, a square close-harmony guy group that died in a car crash on the way to their first big gig, on the night the Beatles debuted on the Ed Sullivan Show. They return to earth for the show they never performed in life – and leave to become the guardians of Harmony for all eternity.
