"HIKE and BREW is back! On Saturday September 26th we are heading into the woods! We meet at Edgewood Oak Brush Plains Preserve in Deer Park at 11:00 am. This one of best spots on the island for hikers, bikers, and bird watchers alike! Then once we feel that we have earned our beer, it's off to HopWins Brewery for some post hike refreshments .
You can bring your dog on this one as long as they are leashed on the hike and at the brewery
The terrain is mostly flat and perfect for any skill level with the exceptions of a few small hills and ramps man made for bikers. Expect about a two hike , give or take depending on the comfortability of the group
Bring binoculars if your a bird watcher or love wild life... Edgewood is a globally rare (meaning that there are very few remaining intact parcels left on the planet) pitch-pine scrub oak habitat, home to a wide array of migratory birds and a variety of wildlife, including red fox, rabbits, chipmunks, possum, voles, moles, toads, snakes, box turtles, and owls.
Difficulty rating between 1-5: 2(only because of the small hills and ramps made for bikers footing isn’t always perfect...I do feel closer to a 1 though)"
