This Memorial Day Weekend, May 24th through May 27th, the American Airpower Museum located at 1230 New Highway, Republic Airport, Farmingdale NY, 11735, will pay tribute the most significant event of WWII, the Allied invasion for occupied France, better known as D-Day. The Museum will have a WWII veteran C-47 on the ramp, the same type of aircraft that dropped airborne troops on D-Day. Members of the 101st Airborne Living History Group will have displays of equipment and reenact the Airborne experience for the public throughput the weekend.
The C-47 will be joined by the B-17G Yankee Lady, a British Spitfire, a Japanese Zero, P-51 Mustangs, a Corsair and the planes of the American Airpower Museum fleet of flying warbirds. Weather permitting, various aircraft will perform flybys for the public.
The B17 and other aircraft, including a rare two seat P-40 will be available for flight experiences as will be the Museum’s AT-6 Texans and Waco Biplane.
