Enjoy groundbreaking programming focused on the vibrancy, wisdom, and life experiences shared by the 50 plus segment of the population—“The Third Age.” These programs will inspire individuals to live their best lives by identifying, owning, and cultivating their life purpose, with the understanding that their purpose may change over time.

Take a virtual vacation to the Royal Botanical Gardens in Ontario, Canada to learn about chocolate! Interact with the curator and gardens while learning about the origins of chocolate in history and nature. A piece of dark chocolate and milk chocolate will be served.

Take a virtual vacation to South Padre Island, Texas to learn about the life of sea turtles including why they are endangered and how you can help to protect them.

 

June 27th—Master Class: Healing and Discovery in the Third Age

Join Professor Vimala Sivaraman to hear her personal journey overcoming a tragic loss of mobility in her hand that endangered her career as a high-profile surgeon. Using art, she was able to rediscover hope and meaning, and now has a career as a teacher and artist.

 

July 25th—Workshop: Cyber Security

Join BMB’s Brian Busto to learn how to protect your computer devices from theft & damage.

 

August 22nd—Master Class: From Houston’s Third Ward to Harvard to Stony Brook

Philosophy Professor Harvey Cormier (SBU) will share his personal story of his journey from Houston’s Third Ward Housing project to a faculty position at SBU and the role philosophy played in helping him achieve personal fulfillment and professional success

September 26th—Workshop—Opera: Perform and Discuss

Opera singer and Five Towns Professor Audra Moricca will come to discuss and perform Opera.

 

October 24th—Virtual Travel to Cleveland Institute of Music—Music of the 20th Century

Take a virtual vacation to the Cleveland Institute of Music to interact with live musicians and scholars on the influence of history on the development of the century’s great classical and pop music.

 

November 28th—Master Class—Giving Back: One Woman’s Rise to Leadership in the Field of Tourism, Business, and Culture

Mrs. Gloria Rocchio will tell of her professional journey starting out as a young woman navigating the business world of the 1960s, to her rise into positions of leadership as head of a multimillion dollar corporation and non-profit. Mentored by Mrs. Dorothy Melville, Ms. Rocchio learned the primary role caring for others has in business, professional, and personal success. Hear the lessons she learned on how people can feel more vibrant, visible, and relevant in the second half of their lives.
