Description

Ben Capps and Vassily Primakov will present romantic masterworks for cello and piano by Brahms, Schumann & Tchaikovsky, as well as Shostakovich’s spectacular and monumental Cello Sonata.

Ben Capps, a “young cello phenomenon from New York” with “dazzling technique and a

fearsomely meaty tone” (Holland Times), enjoys a versatile performing career as a soloist and chamber musician. A native of New York City, Capps began playing the cello at age four and at ten he was admitted to Juilliard. Recent performance highlights include tours of the U.S., as well as China, Greece, Spain and South Africa. Capps was featured on Vermont Public Radio playing the complete cello sonatas of Beethoven, Mendelssohn & Brahms. His artistry has been praised as “virtuosic and impassioned” by the Barre Montpelier

Times and “most appealing” by the New York Times.

Award-winning Yamaha Artist Vassily Primakov has been hailed as a pianist of world-class

importance, and lauded by reviewers at the BBC and NPR. He studied at Moscow's Central

Special Music School and at 17 came to New York to pursue studies at the Juilliard School with the noted pianist, Jerome Lowenthal. At Juilliard, Mr. Primakov won the William Petschek Piano Recital Award . In 2007, he was named Young Artist of the Year by the Classical Recording Foundation. Primakov's Chopin Mazurkas recording was named "Best of the Year" by National Public Radio in 2009. The BBC praised his Mozart concertos: "The piano playing is of exceptional quality: refined, multi-coloured, elegant of phrase and immaculately balanced…fit to stand as a role model to a new generation.”

Le Petit Salon de Musique is honored to offer our audience a chance to see these two remarkable young musicians performing some of the world’s most beautiful music in an intimate and accessible setting.
