The Fourth Annual Middle and High School Art Students Juried Show opens Thursday, February 27th and features artwork presented by 100 students from middle and high schools in Nassau and Suffolk County.
This exhibition encourages the work of Middle and High School student artists in all visual arts (except photography and video). The exhibition will be held in The Atelier’s 2,000 square foot gallery, which functions both as a professional studio space and exhibition area.
Accepted art students represent the following schools: Central Islip High School, Commack High School, East Rockaway Jr/Sr High School, Great Neck North High School, Half Hollow Hills High School, Harborfields High School, Herricks High School, Hicksville High School, Islip Middle School, Islip High School, J. Taylor Finley Middle School, Jericho Middle School, Locust Valley High School, Miller Place High School , Newfield High School, Oceanside High School, Plainview-Old Bethpage John F Kennedy High School , R. C. Murphy Junior High School, Syosset High School , The Stony Brook School, Ward Melville High School, W. Tresper Clarke High School, and West Islip High School.
A reception will be held on Saturday, March 1st to announce and distribute the following prizes in two age bands: 12-14 years of age and 15-18 years of age. First Place will be awarded a cash prize of $150; Second Place $100; Third Place $50.
The Atelier at Flowerfield seeks to encourage our future artists by offering classes and workshops with exceptional, professional instructors and exhibitions by students and instructors as well as local and visiting artists in Atelier Hall. Our educational offerings include free lectures, an extensive fine art library, and Scholarship and Fellowship programs for aspiring professional artists, and worthy students. We promote creativity and student success by engaging the community.
