Description

The Third Annual Middle and High School Art Students Juried Show opens Thursday, February 29th and features over 113 pieces of artwork presented by 117 students from Middle and High schools in Nassau and Suffolk County. 

This exhibition encourages the work of Middle and High School student artists in all visual arts (except photography and video). The exhibition will be held in The Atelier’s 2,000 square foot gallery, which functions both as a professional studio space and exhibition area. 

Accepted art students represent the following schools: A. G. Berner Middle School, Bellport High School, Bethpage High School, Central Islip High School, East Northport Middle School, Finley Middle School, Gelinas Junior High School, Glen Cove High School, Great Neck North High School, H.B. Thompson Middle School, Harborfields High School, Islip High School, J. Taylor Finley Middle School, Locust Valley High School, Miller Place High School, Nesaquake Middle School, Oceanside High School, Plainview-Old Bethpage John F Kennedy High School, Port Jefferson Middle School, South Side High School, Southwoods Middle School, Syosset High School, Trinity Regional School, Ward Melville High School, West Islip High School, and Wyandanch High School.

A reception will be held on Saturday, March 23rd to announce and distribute the following prizes in two age bands: 11-14 years of age and 15-18 years of age. The first place in each age band will receive One four-week session (value up to $280) and a cash prize of $50; The second place in each age band will receive One-day Summer Workshop (value up to $150); The third place in each age band will receive An Atelier branded apron and an Atelier branded hat.

The Atelier at Flowerfield seeks to encourage our future artists by offering classes and workshops with exceptional, professional instructors and exhibitions by students and instructors as well as local and visiting artists in Atelier Hall.  Our educational offerings include free lectures, an extensive fine art library, and Scholarship and Fellowship programs for aspiring professional artists, and worthy students. We promote creativity and student success by engaging the community.
