Description

"Planting Fields Foundation is pleased to invite you to The Great Bird Blind Debate exhibition October 1st through December 2020.

The first of its kind at Planting Fields, this exhibition by artists Mark Dion and David Brooks ushers in the Foundation’s new Catalyst program created to bring newly commissioned work by living artists to the site with the goal of continuing the legacy of arts patronage embraced by the Coes.  Nestled in the bird sanctuary, a habitat within a major migratory corridor, the installations of Dion and Brooks will address the history, culture and growing popularity of bird watching. A corresponding exhibition including the artists’ renderings and models for the project will be displayed inside Coe Hall.

Art and nature converge in these opposing and functional bird blinds, inspiring observation and reflection on the character and vulnerability of the natural world.

Guests should be aware that it is roughly 1/15 of a mile of walking over hilly and sloping terrain. Comfortable shoes and outerwear are highly encouraged. Tours are held rain or shine. For serious inclement weather, please check our website or email tours@plantingfields.org to confirm the schedule."
