STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL IMPACT SUFFOLK AND NASSAU COUNTIES THROUGH 915 AM EDT At 818 AM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near New Canaan to Brookville to Atlantic Beach. Movement was east at 50 mph. HAZARD...Winds in excess of 30 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include... Islip, Brentwood, Levittown, Freeport, Valley Stream, Commack, Riverhead, Long Beach, Huntington Station, Centereach, Shirley, Deer Park, Lindenhurst, Plainview, and Medford.

"What trees and shrubs grow within the Park Preserve and how you can learn to identify them by looking at their leaves, buds and bark, and sometimes their fruits.

Park at the upper parking lot unless otherwise noted. Reservations required by calling (631) 315-5475. Programs currently limited to 20 people. All participants must have face coverings and adhere to current social distancing practices.
