Movement was east at 50 mph. HAZARD...Winds in excess of 30 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include... Description

Online registration is now open for the virtual Hope For The Warriors 13th Annual Run For The Warriors, Long Island presented by AARP Long Island, taking place Nov. 7-14. The virtual event hosts several options for all levels of runners and adaptive cyclists with each participant picking his/her own course and start time.

The options for the virtual 13th Annual Run For The Warriors, Long Island include:

  • 5K (include a t-shirt and patch) for a $25 registration fee.
  • 10K (include a t-shirt, patch and coin) for a $35 registration fee.
  • Open distance registration, run or walk any distance for a $25 registration fee.
  • Sponsor a Warrior, allow a warrior to participate in the event at no cost to him/her for $35.

Participants are encouraged to register online before Oct. 23 to receive his/her mailed t-shirt (if purchased) before race day at runforthewarriors.org. However, registration will remain open until Nov. 6.

Proceeds benefit Hope For The Warriors, a national nonprofit dedicated to assisting veterans, service members and military families with a variety of programming including clinical health and wellness, sports and recreation and transition services.

Run For The Warriors is a race series open to civilians and military members that honors the men and women injured in service to our country after 9/11, their families and families of the fallen. The series also provides wounded service members encouragement and the opportunity to pursue the sport of running, walking or cycling to assist in physical and emotional rehabilitation.
