Description

Joining T’ai Chi Ch’uan and Qigong enthusiasts, practitioners, and instructors around the globe, a celebration of the 16th Annual World T’ai Chi and Qigong Day will be held on April 26th at Shorefront Park in Patchogue. T’ai Chi Ch’uan, the Chinese martial art for concentration, relaxation, health, and self-defense, and Qigong, the Chinese art rooted in merging the mind, body, and breath, will be exhibited across the globe at 10:00 a.m. in each time zone.  This is Patchogue’s 14th year participating in this annual celebration of these centuries-old arts and their benefits.

This free event, sponsored by the Village of Patchogue Department of Parks and Recreation and Water Tiger School of T’ai Chi Ch’uan, will be held on Saturday, April 26th from 9:00 a.m. to Noon at Shorefront Park in Patchogue. The park is located at the intersection of Rider Avenue and Smith Street.  In case of inclement weather, the event will be the following Saturday on May 3rd at the same time and location.

The goal of this worldwide event is to hold massive T’ai Chi and Qigong participatory gatherings for the public and media to educate all to the amazing benefits these arts have to offer.  The simply curious and practitioners from all styles of T’ai Chi and Qigong, as well as from all other martial arts and all levels of study, are invited for a morning full of practice and conversation.  Some of Long Island’s premier instructors and practitioners of T’ai Chi, Qigong, and related arts will be facilitating three hours of free workshops and demonstrations.

Featured facilitators will include Laurince McElroy of Water Tiger School in Patchogue and coordinator of the local event as well as co-creator of the international event; Elan Abneri of Zhang Style Tai Chi of Centereach; Judith Budd-Walsh of Harmonious Movement in Port Jefferson; Bill Donnelly of Green Cloud Kung-Fu in Holbrook; Spencer Gee of the Spencer Gee Wellness Corporation in Old Westbury; Sharon Infante of Music, Movement, and More in Mt.
