As temperatures tonight fall back to below zero well inland and into the single digits most elsewhere, wind chills will remain at least a few degrees colder as brisk northwest winds take some time to diminish. Wind chills will be mostly 5 to 10 below zero, but may reach 15 below in a few inland spots, mainly in the higher elevations. Temperatures and wind chills will both moderate by Tuesday afternoon as the core of the Arctic air mass bringing US this cold begins to slide east. Description

"Jones Beach State Park will be offering a series of walks to see wintering seals January through March. Meet at the Jones Beach Nature Center, West End, where a State Park Naturalist will lead visitors on an hour and a half leisurely beach walk to an area where up to four species of seals can be observed. Along the way, there will be opportunities to see many winter birds and to explore marine geology. Please dress appropriately and wear comfortable footwear for hiking. Binoculars are recommended. Reservations are required and can only be made online, https://bookwhen.com/JonesBeachNatureCenter.

Space is limited. Program fee is $4.00 per person. If you are unable to keep your reservation, please call and cancel so that others may have the opportunity to attend.
